From software consulting to product startup
Many technical people end up doing software consulting. Consulting is a tough business, since all you've ever got to sell is hours. Should you do a startup? Should you build a product? How do you move from consulting services to selling a product?
@Aaron I've been really surprised to see this much interest in this topic. I threw it up as a placeholder to get things rolling. I imagine you'll have a thing or two to share -- have to bug @Stv to see if he's coming as well.
I knew this was your idea as soon as I read the title :)
Yes, and also Steamclock Software, Invoke, Pencil Neck Software, and other great local companies :P I think this would be a great share your thoughts & experiences. kind of session.

I'd love to hear more about how to transition from a consulting to selling products -- similiar to SEOmoz and 37Signals. Anyone have experience with this?
